Founder and Editor: Cristina Picozzi is a recent graduate of Utica College‘s public relations-journalism program. She was the president of the college’s LGBT awareness organization, UC P.R.I.D.E., her senior year. She led the organization to its first drag show in three years, the collaboration of many events, fund raising ventures for The Trevor Project and The AIDS Hike For Life in Hamilton, NY. Since she started in the public relations-journalism program, Picozzi has wanted to make a difference in the LGBT community in some way. As a teenager,Picozzi had a hard time finding a magazine that she believed fit her. There are a lot of magazines geared for teenage girls, women, men, sports, music, Hispanic, and gays…, but for men and women. The gay youth seem to be lacking something that they can pick up and read, then relate to. Thus the creation of Illumination Magazine; the glimmer of light that shines in the dark.
